Palstar's Command Technologies amplifiers now incorporate a microprocessor-based controller to provide more precise T/R and electronic bias sequencing. The amplifiers now feature true step-start, limiting in-rush current to the HV power supply and also to the tube filaments. This translates into greater reliability and tube life, since the HV rectifier, filter stack, tube filaments, and even the fuses, are not stressed on startup. The new keying interface is now opto-isolated and fully compatible with solid-state transceivers, requiring the transceiver's keying circuit to only sink 15mA @ +5VDC. The controller, HV power supply, and tuned input circuit boards are now fully silk-screened and solder-masked, with plug-in connections enabling them to be easily removed for repair or trade out. New dual-scale cross-neddle metering provides continuous readouts of grid current, plate voltage and current, and relative power output without the need to switch between functions. No-Compromise The Commander HF-2500E is a no-compromise HF high-power amplifier manufactured exclusively for overseas hams who do not have the FCC mandated power restriction of our U.S. customers, as well as for certain commercial and medical applications. A grounded grid, class AB2, HF linear power amplifier, the Commander HF-2500E utilizes three Eimac 3CPX800A7 pulse rated ceramic metal triodes. These robust tubes give the HF-2500E a 50% duty cycle at its rated 2800 Watts output with nominal 50 watts of drive. The no-compromise design includes effective tube protection, a massive band switch and spectral purity that established a higher standard in amateur radio amplifiers.
